Self-Advocates Speak Up… But at What Cost?

Dear Folks at ACT,

Yes, getting the budget cut is an example of retaliation, and the System as it is, is quite capable of seemingly harsh retaliation. Whether people are upset enough to risk this is always relevant. Many of the “organizers” don’t mention this problem, until their actions have hurt many, who cannot easily afford the loss. Does your leadership tell you about the possible costs of sticking one’s neck out?

P.S. Telling others about the “real world” of threats and retaliations is very relevant to good organizing. Are you really “mad” enough to want to risk such dangers?
