Well, the election is over. What now?
Voting is important, but there’s more to politics. Now comes the rest of the work. We meet with our elected leaders. We write letters. We say what we need and what we expect. We work with each other to make change happen.
Those are the politics we do every day, because our lives matter. Let’s work today to make things better—for all of us.

Group Activity |
| |
Get the phone number for one of your newly elected leaders. Call him or her up (on a speaker phone, so all can listen) and set up a time for him or her to meet with your group. Then, before the meeting, have each person in your group name one issue that’s important to him or her. Practice saying it out loud to the group.
At the meeting, have each person tell the newly elected leader what’s important to him or her. Lastly, ask the leader what he or she can do for you. |
