Lean On Me

[SARN Memo for July 21, 2010]

Independence is great. Being independent gives a person a lot of freedom. You go where you want. You decide when to eat. You buy what you need with your own money. It’s great.

But is independence overrated? Don’t we all rely on others for all sorts of things in life? Like leaky faucets—call the plumber. Tax question? Call the tax expert. We even rely on others for social change—our self-advocacy movement happens when we all work together to make change.

We need each other. Happy interdependence day!
